MY SABBATICAL PROJECT

During the 2003-2004 academic year, I was on sabbatical from Corning Community College to work on a project I'd been thinking about for a decade. My goal was to paint a series of illustrations of Louisiana folk-songs from many musical genres: Cajun, Zydeco, Negro Spirituals, Blues, and more. I lived in Baton Rouge and painted in my apartment, and it was a blissful experience (especially since I didn't have to shovel any snow). On this page I will post the lyrics of the songs and their accompanying illustrations.
